Who said Lebano Electro Pop doesnt exist?
Remember SoapKills? I spent my tender teenage years listening to their CDs *cough* *cough* I mean K7s... well at the time MP3s and internet streaming were a thing of the future really.
But anyways.. Soapkills were a 2 member band (Zeid and Yasmine...both from the Hamdan family but not brothers and sisters) who introduced electro music to Lebanon and were the most active band out there.
I remember once I almost killed one of my colleagues at AUB to get hold of their new album.
Then I dunno what happened... I guess I was taken away by Nirvana and the whole nine yards....so I lost any musical contact with the guys who killed that famous soap.
And then offcourse I had to hide from the boysband invasion and all the shity music that came with it....UNTIL.......one day a friend of mine (may god bless his fast typing fingers) tagged me in one of the soapkills youtube videos...which sparked an urge to Google their name...and to my great surprise I found out that both Zeid and Yasmine have started a solo career.
And THANK GOD FOR MYSPACE....u can listen to a decent bunch of songs from both of them. Yasmine performs now under the stage name of YAS...as for Zeid he is performing under the name Shift Z
Trust me....If you are living abroad and missing Lebanon...this is a perfect remedy...
